Podcast # 49: Dishes and The Community Cookbook
In this week’s podcast, Kelsey was joined by Jill as they talked about a few cooking mechanics of the game and the Community Cookbook. Dishes were presented, people got hungry and now it’s your turn to feel the hunger, too!
Seriously, though, these dishes look delish so read on to find out more about them!
Of course, you can’t start the day without breakfast! We’ve picked three meals that’ll get your taste buds going. Let’s start with our Honeyed Pancakes; for mysterious reasons, your character will be eating a lot of pancakes in this game. Like, a lot.
This is because the people of Bedford Valley really, really love their pancakes – they eat, they give them as gifts and even talk about it most of the time – maybe it’s because honeyed pancakes give you a higher stamina increase than regular pancakes. Interestingly enough, if you leave pancakes on somebody’s doorstep, they’ll just disappear (someone probably ate them cause everyone in Bedford loves pancakes too much, even if they’re stale and exposed, wew).
Pancakes aside, breakfast can’t be called breakfast without some eggs to go with it. That’s why we chose Cheese Omelette and Scrambled Eggs. It’s simple, fast, and very easy to make, especially if you’re just starting out. Hopefully, in the next build, our cooking tutorial that we’ve been working on will be available and be on your way in becoming the best chef in Bedford (or at least try)!
For our appetizers, we chose three meals that are perfect before digging in the main course. First up is one of the world’s favorite food to pronounce: Omelette Au Fromage. Yes, it’s “au”, not “du” (as far as we know, Omelette Du Fromage is grammatically incorrect in the French language, go figure). It’s been an ongoing debate for the past few years, but “au” seems to be winning over “du” so we’ll just go with “au.”
Another yummy yet easy-to-make appetizer is Corn on the Cob. All you need is – corn. Yes, that’s it. Just steam it, lather a slab of butter on it and there ya go! To maybe counter that slab of butter is a healthy, refreshing herb salad. All the vitamins and nutrients you’ll ever need are in that salad.
Sadly, we didn’t have arts to present for one of our appetizers, The Sandwich. The history of the sandwich is very interesting – some British guy didn’t want his hands to get dirty while eating so he put the slab of meat in between two slices of bread and *poof* it’s the birth of the sandwich!
We’ve said before how our food options would not have meat in it, but we’ve changed our mind and decided to add it to the menu! You can’t however kill your livestock (you can’t jsut raise them with love and affection then kill to eat them). This is why we’ve chosen three wonderful meaty (bought from the General Store) dishes: Buttered Oysters, Spaghetti and Fried Rice.
Oysters are pretty tricky to eat; you could say they’re very – oysterious (get it, because mysterious? Haha okay). For some, they eat it with a very tiny fork so it’s easier to get all the meat out. Make sure to eat fresh oysters by the sea! That’s the only way they should be eaten.
Spaghetti is almost everyone’s favorite meal. The combination of meatballs, tomato sauce and cheese is absolutely heavenly, especially if made with pasta cooked to perfection. For those who prefer rice over pasta, then Fried Rice is the meal for you! Colorful and comforting, it has the perfect blend of meat and vegetables – ham, peas, egg and so much more that make for a very yummy dish.
To wash all this food down, let’s take a peek at our drinks! We’ve got teas, beer and hot chocolate.
The people of Bedford really love Alice’s Hot Chocolate so make sure to drop by the inn and try it out, especially during the winter (she doesn’t know why they love it but just do – trust us, it’s good).
As for Beer, you can make your own beer and wine! But be careful, you can get drunk in the process within the game. There will be some certain people that don’t like the fact that you’re drunk so, drink moderately. You definitely can’t have one night stands but you can possibly flirt with some people. The game also has flushed, drunk sprites so that’d be really interesting to see.
A proper meal wouldn’t be complete without a proper dessert! Here’s some of everyone’s favorite desserts: Chocolate Chip Cookies, Chocolate Cake and Ice Cream – Herb Ice Cream, to be exact. They’re basically the Holy Trinity of desserts.
To make the chocolate desserts, you can either buy baking chocolate from the General Store or grow your own cocoa and turn it into chocolate. The kids in town really love desserts, although some kids are very fond of herb ice cream and some kids hate it.
We also have Milkshakes and we’re not kidding when we say that it brings boys to your yard – or certain boys, at least. Actually, it’s just young children (we do not promote bringing boys or children to your yard – we try to break boundaries but never overstep them).
In this podcast, we’re introducing the Community Cookbook where you will submit suggestions for recipes that you want to see in the game.
Our designers will then select dishes and will make them for you (in the game, of course). You guys can submit anything you want, whether it’s something that represents your country or your favorite dish, especially now that we have all kinds of meat in our menu.
To take part in the Community Cookbook, simply make a post in our Facebook page or tweet us at our official Twitter account!
Well, that’s all for this Podcast, tell us what you think and see you next time!
